Frequently Asked Questions
DEADLINE: The student athlete must submit their application by 5:00 p.m., central time, October 1.
Q: How do I know if I am eligible for the Wendy’s High School Heisman?
A: The application is open to any high school senior who meets the following eligibility criteria.
- A high school senior for the academic year 2008-2009, graduating with the Class of 2009.
- Have maintained at least a B (3.0) G.P.A. during your three years in high school.
- Participate in one or more school-sponsored extracurricular sports.
Q: While creating my profile, I was told that the account already exists. I have never tried to login before, how can that be?
A: During registration you must select a unique User ID – something that no one else in the system has ever used before. If you get this message, it is likely that you have chosen a User ID that is already in use by another applicant. You will have to try something different. Be sure to write down what you have tried, prior to clicking Submit. It is easy to get in a hurry and then forget what you tried. Write it down and save it until after the October 1 deadline has passed.
Q: How do I change my User ID or password?
A: Your User ID is a unique identifier that was created when you first filled out the profile section and may not be changed. If you have forgotten your User ID you may click on Forgot User ID or Password? located on the login page to obtain it.
If you are the applicant, you have options for changing your password. Upon failure of an attempted login, click: Forgot User ID or Password? link located on the login page to have your password sent to your email account. If this option does not work for you, click here to send an email.
Q: I am locked out of my account. What do I do now?
A: If you have tried multiple times to login, and have received a number of messages that your User ID or password is not correct, as some point your account will be disabled automatically. Click here to send an email requesting a password reset or account reset.
Note: When contacting us for assistance, whether by phone or by email, please provide:
- The first and last name of the applicant
- The name of the high school
- The city and state where the high school is located
This information will enable us to locate your records quickly and serve you more efficiently.
Q: Academics Section – Class rank.
A: This is a required data element. Class rank as of the end of your junior year is sufficient. If your high school does not “rank”, please work with the guidance office to help you identify what percentage of your class you fall into.
Q: Academics Section- Recording Honors courses correctly.
A: When recording the number of Honors courses taken do not count previously recorded AP or IB courses. Although some schools count AP/IB courses as Honors, we want you to only record each course, you have taken, one time.
Q: School Activities Section- Recording school activities correctly.
A: Only enter school-sponsored activities in this section. See examples in the instruction box to guide you. This is not for athletics. The extracurricular sports you participate in are recorded in the next section labeled “Athletics”.
Q: Community Involvement Section- What if I have never had a job or done any volunteer service?
A: Each drop down menu in the work and volunteer service tables allow you to record a 0 for no work or volunteer service done.
Q: Who at the school can perform the review?
A: The Wendy’s High School Heisman Program does want some assurance that the information provided is accurate. The reviewer must be any adult within the school you attend, who knows you well, and has access to student records and can confirm the information provided. For example, the reviewer can be a person in the guidance office, a teacher, or a member of the administration. The reviewer cannot be a student, and the reviewer cannot be related to the student.
Q: When will the reviewer know that it is time to review?
A: When the student is completely finished with the application, they must click on Submit. A confirmation message will appear. Within 24 hours from the time the student clicks Submit, the reviewer should receive an email from Wendy’s High School Heisman with instructions for completing the online review. Students should follow-up with the reviewer to be sure s/he receives the email and completes the review prior to October 6.
Note: If you are concerned about your schools firewall blocking the message, please make sure that someone sets it up to accept emails from wendys@act.org.
Q: What if my reviewer finds an error in my application?
- The reviewer has the ability to allow an applicant to make corrections.
- The reviewer is to contact the student immediately to discuss the error and how it should be corrected.
- NOTE: Once this is done, the student must log back into their application, make the necessary changes and click Submit again.
- NOTE: Upon submission by the student, the reviewer must log back in again, review the application for accuracy and finally click on Submit.
Q: When do I find out if I won?
