Plans After High School:
“Music and running have been instrumental in shaping my life.
Both have taught me the value of dedicated practice and commitment
to a goal. Each will play a different role once I graduate in a few
months. For the future, I will use the skills I have built over the
years to share the arts with others through extracurricular activities
at college. Competitive track will not end. It will move to a new
level as I embark on a track career at a Division I program. The long-term
path I have chosen for a career is medicine. My plan is to pursue
a science or engineering undergraduate degree with the goal of attending
medical school. My interest lies in the area of genetic research.
Through research, I hope to help others by solving some of the world's
medical problems. As I embark on college, I will also rely on the
skills I learned through the process of becoming an Eagle Scout. The
discipline and physical fitness associated with being part of a sports
team at a Division I level, while working to achieve good grades,
is in line with the Boy Scout Oath - To keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight.”
